What the Hell is Wrong with Pink? Dammit.

Mr. Salty and I were driving home from getting milkshakes at our favorite dessert cafe earlier this evening when he asked me: "If you could have any color car in the world, what would it be?" Without skipping a beat, I said "pink." He snaps back, "You didn't even think about it!" So I did, for a moment. "No, pink. But like a cool pink, like the berry pink of the wall of my office." And he said, "Well what if you had to factor in that I might have to drive it sometimes?" to which I immediately responded, "Ain't my problem!" And then he said, "You know, you'd never be able to sell a pink car." (Don't you love how this imaginary scenario has so many stipulations to it?) But I was like, "If I had a pink car, why the hell would I ever want to get rid of it?!"

But then I got thinking about it. Of course you could sell a pink car. If there's one thing us bitches love, it's shit that comes in pink. And given the supply (nonexistent) as compared to the demand (at the very least, moderate) not only would one be able to sell a pink car, but -- now think about this -- if just like one car company came out with a model in pink, there would be a feeding frenzy. Come on! Picture something hip, fun and sporty -- like a VW Bug, Mini or Smart; or even something on the economy side like a Honda Fit or a Toyota Yaris? There would be a waiting list out the ass. Remember when Motorola came out with the pink RAZR? Let me tell you, it was completely redonkulous. It took me like two months to get my hands on one of them, and I paid almost $200 for it. Of course, now every damn phone comes in pink, and they give RAZRs away for free with a two year contract.

The fact that car companies refuse to take cues like this under their wing makes it apparent to me that these car companies are obviously run by men, who are forcing us women to live by their patriarchal standards of what a car should look like. (Yeah! How 'bout it, feministing?) And I, for one, am officially calling bullshit-anigans on this. Hear me, car companies? Bullshit-anigans!!

I was going to say that Penn Jillette has a pink Mini Cooper, but after comparing other Intarweb photos, I realized that its the one in your photo.

That is the coolest car I have ever seen in my life.

If there is a market for lime green Ferraris and Porsches, there is a market for pink cars as well. Oh--and pink Cadillacs! All you have to do is sell a bunch of Mary Kay stuff and you get one.

Pink car? Yes please! I love pink (yes, I have a pink RAZR too...and have you seen the pink Sony Vaio laptops, and the pink flat-screen TV they make? Fuckin' A I want those SO bad!) and I'm glad other people do too.
There is such shame surrounding the color pink because it's "girly" which apparently is a bad thing - for men and women. It's total BS. Yes, I'm a woman and yes, I like pink. Get the fuck over it and give me that pink digital camera while you're at it!

There was another photo of that car with some giant, long-haired nerd standing next to it. that was Penn Jillette? Shit!

And I've seen Mary Kay pinks cars in other models besides Cadillacs, but that's a little too much of a "Pepto-Bismol" pink for my tastes. I think I'm going to get an unfinished smart car and have it painted my fricking self.

You could probably paint a Smart Car in 20 minutes with about 10 bucks worth of pink Rustoleum.

I want the yellow Ford Mustang Mach 1 from Death Proof with the red interior with yellow edging.

Now that car screams feminine badass.

:) I could always trade the red for pink.

I would buy a pink car just to have a pink car. Cos you never see them. When you do see them on the road, it's like, Look kids! Look at that pink car! I hope you get one someday.

Damn right that car is awesome. Pink gets such a bad rap, but I would drive that adorable car in an instant.

No surprise I am a fan of The Pink, especially hot pink which I consider a kickeminthenuts color (Interestingly, up until the 1920's, pink was the color boy babies wore because pink was close to red, a "masculine" color.). I too have a pink phone and a hot pink nanoPod and I plan on finding a crazy broke-ass hot pink wig for my bald head. I would sure as shit get that same Mini, but it would clash horribly with the Mister's red Mini and his orange Miata.

OMG! Manda that would be awesome! Just like Britney! (Coming from anyone else, that would probably be sarcasm, but this is actually something that I think about and makes me happy.)

And I don't think pink would clash with orange and red! I think those colors look nice together, actually.
